Fleet management in focus: Euro Car Parts
Leading automotive component supplier, Euro Car Parts, has seen a substantial cut in its accident rate since installing Trakm8’s RoadHawk dash cams in its delivery fleet.
The company, which operates from 223 sites across the UK, has more than 2,750 vans in its fleet. On average it makes up to 60,000 deliveries per day, to garages across the country, six days a week.
Euro Car Parts adopted Trakm8’s RoadHawk dash-cam system in 2012 and soon noticed a drop in at-fault accident rates. The system has also proven invaluable when responding to third-party claims against the firm’s drivers. In total, accident rates have fallen by 20% since the entire fleet was fitted with the dash cams.
Martin Gray, CEO at Euro Car Parts said: “The driver knows we can look at the camera and everyone is spot checked once a week.
“Once the drivers realised that we had proof that they were driving sensibly, it has helped us with various threats of people trying to claim against us, on numerous occasions.”
Euro Car Parts now installs the RoadHawk HD in every new van that joins the fleet.
“They have paid for themselves many times over, so we fit them immediately,” said Gray.
“There is no way we will take them out now.”
The company recognised the benefits of the cameras so much that they have also added Trakm8’s RoadHawk cameras to their retail offering, passing on the benefits of forward and rear-facing cameras onto its own customers.
