ScottishPower selects Trakm8 cameras following telematics success
ScottishPower has selected Trakm8’s dashboard cameras following a successful first year using the company’s telematics solution.
The utility company operates 1,500 vehicles and will be installing Trakm8’s RoadHawk DC-2 forward-facing camera throughout its new fleet as part of its vehicle replacement scheme.
The RoadHawk DC-2 is Trakm8’s most widely used forward-facing camera among businesses. With full 1080p video recording, gyro-balanced image stabilisation and a high-quality sensor, the camera is able to produce evidence in bright and low-light scenarios.
The RoadHawk DC-2’s inbuilt G-force sensor means the camera automatically saves clips to a separate ‘event’ folder when it detects a sudden jolt or impact, ensuring that important footage isn’t overwritten or lost in the event of an accident. ‘Event’ files can also be created when a driver presses a button on the camera for saving incidents on the road that don’t necessarily involve an impact.
In December, ScottishPower reported positive changes in the areas of speeding and idling following a successful first year using Trakm8’s telematics solution. The result, of which, also accounted for a 10% increase in fuel efficiency.
Marc Currie, Contracts Manager at ScottishPower, said: “Choosing Trakm8 as our camera supplier was an easy decision after the company demonstrated such a positive set of results in our first annual telematics review. Driver safety remains at the forefront of our actions and we believe installing cameras in our new vehicles will further improve the safety of our drivers.”
Colin Ferguson, Managing Director of Fleet and Optimisation at Trakm8, said: “We are delighted to have been selected by ScottishPower as the company to help them further improve the safety of their workforce through vehicle cameras. Our camera solutions are proven to reduce the frequency of at-fault accidents claims by up to 20% and paired with our telematics solutions can have a huge effect on the safety of drivers at work. We are delighted to have the opportunity to cement the strong relationship between our two companies.”
